Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away, there was a small village of Smurfs. Every blue moon, the stork would bring a new baby to live in the village, but this blue moon was different. Everyone came to the large clearing to meet the new addition to the village, as usual. They were shocked to see the infant was not a smurfy blue. Not even Grandpa Smurf had seen such a thing. The new baby was christened “Phil.”
As time went by, Papa Smurf noticed that Phil just didn’t seem to fit in with the rest of the village. Many of the others had nicknamed Phil “Grumpy”. Anytime someone said, “Hey, Grumpy, isn't it a smurfy day?" Phil's cheeks would turn ruby red and he’d scream, "Yeah, who asked you?" Finally, one day, Papa Smurf took it upon himself to help Phil find his niche. They tried cooking with Greedy, but Phil kept setting things on fire. Papa tried pawning Phil off on Brainy, but Brainy tossed Phil out of his house. Finally, Papa found a way to keep Phil occupied: Boy Scouts. No one in the village had ever been in Boy Scouts before, but a nearby village of humans had a group, so Papa let Phil join. Phil enjoyed Boy Scouts, but still didn’t quite fit in at home. After many years of frustration, Phil finally befriended Harmony Smurf. Some say Phil was the better musician, but no one could be certain. At least Phil had a friend in the village.
Even though Phil had one friend in the village, he was still very unhappy. Papa Smurf decided it might be best if Phil moved away, so called the council together. They decided to give Phil a "scholarship" to the University of Arkansas. Phil was so excited to get away from the village, he immediately packed his bags, even though he wouldn’t leave for another 3 months.
While at the University, Phil realized how much he missed the Smurfs. Sure they didn’t understand him. Sure they picked on him, but he missed them nevertheless. He even had his car painted blue to remind him of the villagers. At the U of A, he met some really cool people. They were brothers of Alpha Phi Omega. They reminded him of Bill and his Boy Scout friends, so he pledged, to eventually become our fearless leader, and finally gain a little respect in the village. :o)
